California’s small businesses contribute 75% of the gross State product and over half of the State’s private sector jobs. Eighty businesses were honored, one for each Assembly District. The day-long event began at 9:00 am and was highlighted by a luncheon and award ceremony. Representing Dolan’s was Gene Dolan, his sister, Colleen Dolan and his son, Patrick H. Dolan, all active in the family business.
“Being selected as one of California’s small businesses of the year is indeed an honor and we appreciate that our State recognizes the contributions of dedicated small businesses,” said Gene Dolan.
Dolan’s has been in the Bay Area for more than one-hundred years. In 1961, Gene Dolan’s father, Patrick E. Dolan, opened the Concord full-service lumberyard and home improvement center, actively serving the area today. Subsequently, a lumberyard and home improvement center opened in Pinole and two window and door showrooms were established in Walnut Creek and Burlingame.
“California’s small businesses are the economic engine of our State,” said Betty Jo Toccoli, president of the California Small Business Association. ♦
