- ½ pound ground chuck or ground round per burger
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or Cajun seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Large burger buns
- Dubliner Cheese*
- lettuce leaves
- Beefsteak Tomato slices
- thin slices of red or white onion
- Options can include crispy onion rings, jalapeños or poblano peppers, sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions, and bacon.
Directions:Start with ground chuck or ground round. Best meat-to-fat ratio is 80/20 if you want tasty, juicy burgers. Make sure your grill is nice and hot. Pre-heat to about 400-450º. If you prefer ground turkey meat, that also works. Use about half a pound of ground meat for each burger. Before placing on your heated grill, place a little thumb dent in the middle of your patties and sprinkle desired seasonings on each burger.
Place on the grill, indent-side up. Close the grill lid and cook for 3-4 minutes (for medium rare). Bottom of the burger will be seared and juices accumulated on top of the burger. Then flip and cook for 3 to 4 minutes more. Burgers should reach 160 degrees F. Add your Irish cheese to burger tops a minute before removing from the grill. Let burgers rest a bit before placing on buns. Then add your lettuce, onions, and tomatoes.
Be sure you have a selection of sauces and condiments to choose from including ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, dressings like Thousand Island and Ranch; plus pickles and olives. Place patties on a plate and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving in a bun with toppings, and your favorite condiments like ketchup, mustard, BBQ Sauce, Thousand Island Dressing, Ranch Dressing or homemade sauce.
